Getting ready to Ski at Stratton Mountain

It has been cold here at Stratton and snow is predicted for this weekend.    Stratton's new gondola is up and running and we are all looking forward to a comfortable and speedy trip to the top of the mountain.    The ski shops are all chock full of new equipment and nice new clothes as well as they still have some deals on last year's ski equipment and outfits.     Our seasonal rentals have been busy with many rented.   There are still some great values for Stratton rentals available for this winter as well as there are still some great buys in homes and condos there are available for this winter  ski season at Stratton.    Stratton's village has a new bar and pizza shop.   The village is also gearing up ready for skiers with restaurants and retail.

A new listing of  Viewa great value of a lot located off the Stratton Access Road at the end of a cul de sac.  It is on 2.7 acres and has a septic design for a 4 bedroom home.     Very competitively priced at $69,000.

Hot of the press is a new Chalet Coop that is priced at $205,000.    It is cash only.  It has three bedrooms, 2 baths, and family room in addition to the main living area of living/dining /kitchen.  You can walk to the base area from this unit.

Whats up at Stratton!

Things are happening at Stratton.    The Stratton corporation is investing 7 million dollars mostly in skier amenities!    The new gondola cars are arriving and the lift is getting ready for its new cars!   Yea -- Can't wait to be able to sit down on a nice comfortable seat!  instead of stretching to sit and it will be an eight minute ride.     Stratton has also spent $1.2 on 350 new high efficiency snow guns so skiing will be great.   Stratton is also constructing 3 new glades for skiing fun, two blue and one challenging!

We are busy with lots of people looking for Stratton winter rentals and we seem to have less this year than in previous years.    There are a number of great properties for sale both on Stratton and in Strattonwald with bus service.   Now is a good time to buy.

 

July doings at Stratton

Summer has arrived at Stratton!    We have had 6 weekends of absolutely beautiful weather, blue bird skies, lush green grass and trees and golden sunsets. The Stratton Golf course is celebrating it's 40 th Anniversary with some nice improvements to the greens and fairways. Tenderloins Restaurant at Stratton  underwent a major transformation and reopened as "The Green Apron" serving farm to table fare. Great locally sourced food prepared in some familiar and inventive forms, served on the patio overlooking the course and Stratton.    Gets my vote for the best lunch spot in all of Southern Vermont.

Winhall suffered a major loss with a fire at the Fat Spy (former Haig's). We are thankful that no one was hurt or injured and hopeful that good things will be come from the ashes.   It appears the original building may be saved. Tony's Pizza is relocating from Rawsonville to right next to our office.

Spring at Stratton 2014

Stratton Skiing Here we are getting ready to ski first tracks on Kidderbrook on Wednesday morning.

The ski coverage is amazing and we had an additional 5 inches of snow last night before some of the cold, wet stuff.  Stratton will close April 13 with some of the best conditions for late Spring skiing.  Spring is a great time to start learning to Ski.  My 3 year old granddaughter will be going to Mini Cub this weekend to start to learn for the first time. So amazing as its in the same location where my children learned to ski.

While all of this is happening, we are seeing an uptick in real estate activity.  Prices are still really great and there are some great late season price reductions.

Stratton Mountain Fights Winter's Crazyness

The weather this year in Vermont and here at Stratton has certainly been nutty!  After a great Christmas and feet of snow, we had rain and then more snow but the snow was coupled with Arctic temperatures.   If you were brave enough to ski, the snow was great.  And then we had the Vermont January Thaw -- 4 days of warm temperatures and heavy rain.   Monday last week (prior to MLK) Stratton Mountain was treacherous with lots of glare ice.  Then Stratton's great snow makers and groomers did their magic.  I skied on Friday and was actually able to ski the bumps on Upper Standard and cruise down Freefall.  Everyone who was here for Martin Luther King weekend had a great time!  A number of our renters are renting again at Stratton.

We are showing lots of Stratton Properties for Sale as many people recognize the value of owning their own ski home.  Rates are good and mortgage interest is still deductible.

Christmas/NewYear's at Stratton

What is itsmall   What is it?    Is it an Under sea monster or something from outer space?   No it is an old large hydrangea bush with Christmas lights in the middle of the 6 inch snow storm we had at Stratton on December 30.  Skiing has been very good but crowded due to high winds that have closed some of the lifts the lines have been quite long.    All in all it has been a great holiday that still has almost another 7 days to go.    Our short term rental department has been very busy with people looking to book a New Years weekend and looking to book additional times trough out the winter,   We have several properties for sale that could be occupied for the rest of the winter and a number of great shorter term Stratton rentals.   I am looking forward to skiing Stratton as the holiday winds down.    They are predicting a New Years storm of up to a foot of snow so we are all very excited.      My favorite property now is exteriorthis house with 4 bedrooms, family room , and two additional rooms and it is located off the Stratton Access Road.   $450,000.  Give us a call for information on Stratton rentals or Stratton Real Estate for sale.

Stratton Mountain Winter

Just back from a wonderful day of skiing at Stratton.  15+ inches of new snow - and lots of trails are open.    The lines were very short and gave you time to catch your breath.     Christmas is only 10 days away and Stratton's ski season is in full swing.    Most of our winter seasonal rentals are booked with some opportunities for a Christmas or New Years's rental are available.    There are homes still available to be purchased for this winter season, while many are presently rented for the winter and are available in the Spring.

Fall Up date

This Fall has been one of the most spectacular  I have seen in a long time.   The warmer temperatures have really added to its enjoyment.   I hope you have had a chance to get here and enjoy the weather.    Stratton was incredibly busy over the weekend with parking lots filled with people hiking, hay rides, learning about falcons, face painting and of course shopping and dining.  Verde had the busiest night short of New Year's on Saturday.   Stratton is investing $7million  in mountain improvements, snow cats, new gondola (for 2014-15) and more.    We continue to be busy showing  Stratton Seasonal rentals and  Stratton properties for sale.

While  there are still a lot of inexpensive properties selling,  there are sales in the higher ranges which is a good sign of the market increasing.   The number of new listings is down, while the percentage of closing has increased.   This is a normal trend as we are coming close to ski season and people are working hard to make their plans.     Still not to late to find a home to rent or buy here at Stratton.

Summer at Stratton

Summer has come to Stratton and we are all enjoying the beautiful warm weather.  One of the great new past times is to build a stone cairn in the Winhall River (Route 30 East of our office).  There are many wonderful engineering feats and people are stopping all the time to add new sculptures.    Business has been busy with more people coming to rent and buy in the Stratton area.
