After a period of stalled sales and falling home prices, the resort-home market is poised for a comeback. During the past decade, the market for homes in many resort areas experienced an even more severe boom-and-bust trajectory than the traditional housing market. Vacation-home sales hit a record high of 1.07 million in 2006 before plunging 30.6 percent in 2007 and another 30,8 perscent in 2008, according to the NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF REALTORS (NAR). But sales increased by 7.9 percent last year, which may indicate that the worst has passed. " (by Regina Ludes, The residential Specialist, May/June 2010)
