William Raveis Winhall Real Estate Appoints Carrie Mathews as Managing Broker

William Raveis Winhall Real Estate announced today that Carrie Mathews will be the new managing broker. Mathews will oversee the company's growing portfolio of properties, business operations and sales leadership. She takes over managing from Ted and Betsy Cetron, who established the business in 1974.

Mathews comes with a wealth of industry experience, beginning her 11-year career with Winhall Real Estate in 2004, and helping the brokerage list and sell numerous luxury residences while providing exceptional client care. Mathews is also the current South Central Vermont Board of Realtors® state director, served as its secretary from 2009-2014 and was recognized as the board's Realtor of the Year in 2014. Mathews transitions to the Winhall team from Four Seasons Sotheby's.

John Biondolillo, president, highlighted that "Carrie has a true passion for helping customers and clients with their real estate goals, whether it be a primary home or vacation property! She has tremendous energy and enthusiasm. We are delighted to have her head the team in Stratton."

Mathews comments: "I am excited at the opportunity to serve our clients not only as a broker but as a manager coordinating all aspects of their experience. John and Marcia Biondolillo have the same energy, vision and values that I do. They are extremely supportive and have a genuine interest in helping their agents succeed. Also, Raveis has cutting-edge technology and marketing. Raveis is widely recognized as the leader in markets where so many Stratton home buyers have their primary residences. Raveis has the marketing that will deliver our Vermont property offerings to the right clientele, especially in southern New England and New York. That is a huge advantage for our seller clients."

Outside of real estate, Mathews enjoys volunteering her time for Habitat for Humanity, the Stratton Foundation and The Mountain School at Winhall.

The Leaves are turning and we are starting to focus on the upcoming Ski Season.    SKi shops are stocking their shevles with new merchandfise and people are thinking about new equipement and clothing.      If you have not got your Stratton Ski house for this season, there are several great values for Sale and for Rent here in the Stratton Resort Area.

The best value for the dollar is a   3 bedroom, 3 bath plus den at Bear Creek.    Bear Creek has a fairly high HOA BUT  for $115,000 you get a nice  fully furnished unit with community amenities of a Winter Stratton Shuttle,  and summer amenities including a private pool and 3 nice HAr Tru Tennis courts.     If you compare these units to other comparable properties, you can't miss the value!

For either rent or for sale, this very cute High Meadow home can  be rented for the Winter Season at $22,000 or purchased at $499,000.  High Meadow is part of the Stratton community with winter shuttle to the Stratton Ski Area.  Purchase include a bond, to the Stratton Sports Center which offers an indoor pool, indoor and outdoor tennis and a great fitness room.   The home offers 4 bedrooms, 3 baths, and a loft.   There is an attached 1 car garage.     THis is a great opporunity to be in one of Stratton's coveted areas.

There is a Slopeside condo for winter season that is right next to the Tamarack Trail - true ski in and out.   It is 3 bedrooms, 3 baths and a loft.   Price is $26,000.

There are still lots of fun activities here at Stratton, so please plan a trip here to enjoy the foliage, ride the Stratton gondola or Bromley's Alpien slide.

Stratton and Bromley are getting Ready for Winter Sk Season

Stratton Mountain Resort

Stratton is investing $9 million in a Main Base Lodge project, which will add 4,000 square feet and approximately 350 seats to the original lodge that has welcomed generations of friends and family since 1961. A brand new cell tower has been installed at the Sun Bowl area to provide better cell phone service to Verizon and AT&T customers visiting the resort. A summit webcam will also be ready for the 2015-16 season, allowing snow enthusiasts to watch what's happening at Stratton from their computers and cell phones.

Bromley Mountain
The 2015/16 Winter Season will see an update to the Learning Zone, with regraded terrain to both improve the experience for beginners and also reduce the amount of snowmaking necessary to build Terrain Based Learning features. Speaking of snow surface, Bromley is updating the grooming fleet, adding a new winch capable Prinoth 350X, and re-nozzling 50 SV10 snow guns, turning them into SV10 plusses. (What does that mean? Reducing air used from 100cfm each to 60cfm each, saving energy.) The popular Super Duper 6-Pack now includes a snowboard option. The $649 package includes 6 all day Kidsrule (ages 5-14) lessons, free Rossignol skis or Burton snowboard, an earned season pass, plus exclusive discounts at the ski shop. With the more experienced skier in mind, the full service Rental & Repair shop will be adding new high end Rossignol Experience skis, plus  (Info from SkiVermont.com)

We are seeing a lot of activity in Winter seasonal and short term Stratton and Bromley rentals.

A great buy right now is a 3 BR, Den 3 baath condo at Bear Creek for $125,000. Seller is motivated!

June Real Estate Update at Stratton

What a beautiful day in Vermont today.   After Several cold days and lots of rain,  we are enjoying all that Vermont can bring.

Our first very exciting news is that after 41 years, Ted and I have merged with the William Raveis Company and are very excited about the opportunities this will bring us.   Raveis is the Largest family owned real estate office in the Northeast.   They are the most successful in Connecticut and have a strong presence in Westchester, Rhode Island and Massachusetts.      The referring network and exposure on their high quality website can only enhance our marketing and selling efforts.   I am not leaving but will enjoy the ability to spend less time running the office and more time selling.

The number of pendings and closings is down slightly from last year, which is a reflection of the slower end of the season that we had.    On the positive side, we are getting a number of calls looking for information, and have been on a number of showings.   The fact that the rental market is tightening up, with less properties on the market for the winter will push people into purchasing decisions.   the good news is this month the average sale price has moved up with more closings over the $250,000 mark.   If you are thinking of renting, let's talk about that but with a buyout  of the lease option  in late September.

We are gearing up for Wanderlust in mid-June,  Stratton's village is open but they are hard at work on the base lodge.

Spring Has Sprung at Stratton

The weather has finally warmed up although it does look like the SMS mogul kids are still skiing the bumps on World Cup.   As always, this time of year everything comes to a screeching halt.   Restaurants close and people go on vacation.   The numberof Sales and contracts  at Stratton seem to be pretty similar to the previous month.   Hit this link to see recent Stratton Sales and closings.

The Stratton Foundation is selling the original chandelier's in the base lodge so I anticipate construction for the new Lodge should start soon.

Wanderlust  is coming back to Stratton in mid -June.  Debbie and Lisa in our Stratton Short Term Rental Department  are very busy booking rentals for that time period.  I know lots of owners are planning to be here to enjoy all that Wanderlust at Stratton has to offer.

The phones have been ringing with people looking for summer rentals and winter seasonals' for next year.   We are seeing appointments with people looking for next year even though it is early.

There does not seem to be a large number of properties coming on the market which is a good trend and the number of available seasonal rentals is done. This should convert to people who realize that they should buy instead of rent.   Property values have not come up much from the low so there are still a lot of great deals.

We are very excited about our new Web page -- www.winhallrealestate.com

The Ski season is coming to an end with a fun Easter day and yet still great skiing.   Don't give up yet come back to Stratton for one last blast! If you come up DO go to Verde at Stratton.    They have a new chef cooking and the food is wonderful.   We had dinner llast Saturday with wonderful fried green beans as an app and followed with a scallop dish with a wonderful mix to textures and flavors.    This was followed by warm beignets and icecream and a wonderful creme Brule.     Celebrate the end of the Ski season with a wonderful dinner.    Don't forget to buy your discounted season passes at Stratton before the end of April!
