Things to Do in Stratton
Stratton Mountain was founded in 1962 with a distinctive Austrian flare. Many original Stratton Skiers bought land and built chalet style homes. Located off the access road there are a number of these older chalets. As time has passed, many have been updated and homes of many different styles have evolved.
In the late 1980's Stratton developed High Meadow, an upscale development of 1 acre lots, many with views of Stratton's slopes and overlooking the golf course. Stratton resort provides a winter shuttle from these Stratton resort homes to the base area.
Somerset Reservoir, located at the end of a 10-mile gravel road north of Vermont Route 9 in the townships of Stratton and Somerset, is the largest undeveloped water body in Vermont. Having more than 16 miles of shoreline, and covering 1,600 acres, its broad northern reaches with 12 scattered islands and several winding channels offer remote fishing and paddling unmatched outside the Adirondacks or the down-east coast of Maine.
